8 week course

A specifically designed class for Bellydancers!!

A fantastic new class for Bellydancers wanting to enhance and develop
their technique.

Ballet is the foundation for many styles of dance, Samia Gamal, Tahia
Carioca were one of the first generation of dancers to have a strong
ballet background which they implemented in their graceful dance styles.

In this exclusive course students will gain knowledge and help
bellydancers with techniques in:
- Posture/Alignment
- Clarity of line
- Port de bras (arm carriage and placement)
- Footwork (Adagio/Allegro) short centre combinations, fast combinations
- Spins, turns, pirouettes
- Barre and Floor Barre

This course is open for Bellydancers of all levels and is particularly
aimed at professional bellydancers who want to continue their dance education.

Maximum of 12 students for individual attention.

* Course also open to non bellydancers wanting to try adult Ballet class

ABOUT EMMA JOHNSON

Emma studied RAD Classical ballet for 16 years, alongside jazz, tap
and contemporary dance. In 2000 she graduated from the University of
Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. For 6 years she lived
in London working at the Royal Academy of Dance in the examination
department while taking regular ballet and contemporary classes. She
has taught both children's and adult's ballet classes using a mixture
of traditional classical technique and contemporary movement. Her
classes are also influenced by Yoga and Pilates.
More recently Emma has been studying Bellydance with Jrisi, Burlesque and Aerial work.

My professional team of Interstate and Sydney dancers represented Bellydance

at the 1st Australian Dance Festival held at Homebush Sports Centre.

Alongside choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance and

Dancing With The Stars, my choreography was greatly received

and have been asked again for next year.

New Member of HDT

I'm happy to announce that Johara is our newest member of the school's

professional dance company, the Hathor Dance Theatre.

Johara comes to us with a wealth of knowledge having studied with various

Sydney teaches such as Despina Rosales, Amera Eid and Jrisi plus

attending workshops by International teachers Dr. Mo Geddawi, Magdy El Leissy,

Caroline Evanoff, Kaeshi Chai, Raqia Hassan, Nagua El Sultan.

She is also founding member of the Egyptian folkloric troupe Farrah whom

make guest appearances at Hafla On The Side.

You can also see her perform weekly at Mustafa's in Glebe,

and Arax in Willoughby, she is also Jrisi's substitute at Kolbeh in Cremorne.

Just wanted to say how much I loved your performance last night at the Raks Festival. I know everyone says it to you, but I thought I would say it too. You are different from other professionals in the way that your dancing keeps on getting more and more amazing (even when I thought this was impossible as you are already brilliant), to the point of it looking totally effortless when you are dancing. Maybe this is the result of natural talent, hard work and continuous learning, whatever it is, it's very inspiring :)

Jrisi also made her first visit to Perth in December - why had she taken so long? Those of you in the Eastern States are more familiar with Jrisi's energetic style of teaching and it was like a breath of fresh air and a bit of a shock to the system for us in the west.

Her teaching style is consice, structured and easy to follow and the choreographies were kept simple enough to follow yet challenging enough to keep us on our toes. Jrisi has a wonderful personality and teaching style and manages to maintain a high level of energy with her students. This is a sign of an experienced and committed teacher. Hopefully this will not be her last visit as we want more, more!
