CaraCara grew up dancing; training in such diverse dance forms as ballet, jazz, oriental, contemporary, and the traditional Indian temple dance Bharat Natyam. Cara began bellydancing in 1997, and it didn't take long for it to become a passion! She began performing with the troupe 'Amaranth' within a year and as a soloist soon after. Training with Jrisi Jusakos, of the 'Hathor Dance Theatre', and delving further into the intricacies of Oriental dance, has been a turning point. It was here that Cara really began to refine her movements and integrate her unique style, strong technique and improvisation skills. Launching into a creative whirlwind, she has danced at weddings, parties and festivals all over Sydney. Her keen interest in movement and balance led to the study of Yoga, and she visited India in 2000 to obtain a Teachers Certificate from the Sivananda Yoga Ashram. Whilst there, she took the opportunity to attended an intensive Bharata Natyam course with teachers from the renowned Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai.
RachelRachel first happened across Bellydance in 1995 when she enrolled, almost by chance, in an intensive week-long introduction to the dance. For a few years, Bellydance was just one of Rachel's many hobbies, but over the past two years it has become her main activity outside of university, where she is studying for a PhD in psycholinguistics. Rachel has learnt with a number of teachers in both Australia and Germany, each of them contributing to a different aspect of her dancing. She was a founding member of the Genies, the performance troupe of Dreaming of Jeannie Bellydance Academy, where she learnt for four years; she now performs regularly at restaurants and functions. In September 2003 she joined Hathor Dance Theatre. Although Rachel's focus within Oriental Dance is on modern Egyptian style, she enjoys developing her understanding of the origins and cultural aspects of the dance through learning Middle Eastern folkloric styles, and appreciates the freedom and creativity that fusion with other forms of dance can bring to Bellydance.
PatriciaInspired by the beauty of Bellydance, Patricia began her studies just over 4 years ago and has since trained with various leading Sydney based performers such as Jane Jardines, Angelina Rega and Jrisi Jusakos at the Hathor Dance Studio. She is currently a member of the school's professional dance company. Patricia's performance debut with the company was at the 2003 Enmore Theatre show as part of the Annual Middle Eastern Dance Festival. Patricia has also completed approximately five months training in 'Salsa' in which time she excelled to an advanced level.
